SCR Jams

Jams happen.

First, see this article about SCR Recycler problems: https://generalbytes.atlassian.net/wiki/spaces/ESD/pages/2917892106

Jams rarely occur in the transport unit, but it might happen on occasion. Always first check the recycler head (and connections), as statistically they’re much more likely to be the source of the problem.

If you can’t locate the source of the jam in the recycler head, then you should look inside the recycler transport unit. Be careful; the internals are delicate and recyclers aren’t cheap. If you damage it, the only option is to replace the entire recycler unit. Having uttered the mandatory warnings, here’s how you get in:

  1. Remove the retaining assembly,

  2. remove the cashbox/stacker,

  3. slide the outer yellow sleeve up,

  4. swivel the unit apart (hinge is on the bottom).

Here’s a short video of the process:

Assembly is the reverse order. Don’t force it, and feel it all snap together easily.

Troubleshooting Tips Specific to the SCR Recycler

The security fob must be installed for proper operation:

  • a missing fob will result in a solid yellow LED lit, and an Error: Acceptor maintenance door open

  • power off the BATM, reinstall the fob, and retry.

  • The access door must be fully & properly closed for the security fob to insert completely.

The drum access door must be closed for the acceptor to initialize.

Make sure the access door is completely seated, and the fob properly installed.

  • an open access door will result in a solid yellow LED lit, and Error: Acceptor maintenance door open
