This guide describes the installation of the a QPay Q5000 card reader on a BATMFour.
GENERAL BYTES does NOT sell the QPay Q5000.
GENERAL BYTES does sell cover conversion plates to house the QPay Q5000 device.

Overview
Installation consists of:
the custom cover plate from GB designed specifically for the reader installation on the BATMFour,
a the USB reduction for the data connection, and
basic mounting fasteners.
Obviously, you’ll also need a QPay Q5000 (not sold or included by GB).
Installation steps
Prepare your Q5000 card reader. Card readers The devices have a number code on the back - and - while technically not needed required for configuration installation - we recommend that you note which number is serials are in which terminal terminals for future reference. The code on the reader won't be visible once the installation is done.

Use the supplied screws and washers to attach the reader (there is 1 spare of each). Do not tighten them individually, rather start ALL and THEN tighten them together.

Gently tighten the 4 screws. DO NOT OVERTIGHTEN. Use only a gentle torque to tighten these screws. The reader The device nuts are embedded encased in plastic. You only need to ensure that the reader is not loose. If you overtighten these screws, you risk may damage the reader damage.

Remove the original cover plate.
Open the top door and remove the computer cover.
Remove the fingerprint reader by unscrewing the 6 serrated nuts located at the perimeter of the fingerprint holder (socket size 7mm - included in your toolset).
Store the fingerprint reader temporarily in the cross bar support

NFC

installed (typical), disconnect the NFC antenna and remove the NFC reader cover by unscrewing the screw and sliding the cover away.
If you do not have NFC installed, just remove the antenna cover.

The NFC antenna connector is secured in-place by hot glue. If you have a hot air gun, you can melt it, or use a knife to cut it away. Once released, slide the connector to disconnect it.

A little bit of hot glue is also used to secure the other end of the cable. Carefully release it and remove the NFC antenna. The NFC connector now goes through the hole in the custom metal cover.

Unscrew the 11 serrated nuts (socket size 7mm

) to release the original plate.

Remove only the top-most (original) plate (leave the distance plate installed).

Install the upgraded cover plate.
Position the upgrade custom metal plate with the Q5000 installed in place, and refasten the 10 serrated nuts that we removed earlier (minus 1 unusable nut located in the corner).

If everything is fine, turn BATM off, and
install the computer cover (make sure you do not pinch the card reader cables).
Hardware installation is completed.
