Introduction
This article describes the installation of the Valina card reader on a BATMThree. You will need to use your own tools and equipment. Read the article in advance carefully to determine the required tools.
NOTE THE TID# ON YOUR DEVICE BEFORE INSTALLING IT!
You’ll need that number for CAS configuration, and it won’t be visible after this installation.
Overview
The GB installation kit consists of a small box with a cover on the back. The whole box is then bolted on to the right side of the BATMThree from the inside (protecting it from unauthorized physical access).
Installation steps
Assemble the Enclosure
Put the box face down, and remove the 6 screws on the back side.
The cover will now be free to slide to the right; remove it.
Place the Valina card reader into the box, noting which side faces out.
Attach the Valina with the 4 provided M4 washers and nyloc nuts.
Connect all the cables into the Valina.
Doublecheck the wiring - these connectors won't be accessible after installation.
NOTE THE TID# before proceeding, you’ll need that for your CAS configuration.
Close the box and fasten the 6 screws holding the lid to the box.
You are now ready to integrate the enclosure into the BATM.
Mounting
Take the drilling template and place it onto the BATMThree, so that the lock will fit into cutout in the template.
Dint (mark) the holes with a center punch.
Drill holes into the marked positions. This step is critical, please follow these recommendations.
Cover any internal electronic devices (e.g. acceptor) from the metal burrs that may fall into them. Failure to do so may result in short circuits and electronics damage!
Use a vacuum cleaner to remove any debris before applying power.
Drill a small (3mm bit) dint (do not yet perforate) and compare its location to the drilling template.
If you can see bare metal while looking perpendicularly through the drilling template, you are in the correct spot.
Use that dint to guide the final drill locations (7mm bit recommended).
Drill a hole for the cable.
We recommend using a step drill, minimal diameter is 14mm, ideal is 16+mm.
Deburr holes as needed.
Clean the area and vacuum any metal pieces from the inside of the BATM.
Attach the assembled enclosure while simultaneously threading the cables into the BATM.
Secure the enclosure to the BATM with the provided M5 screws.
Route the cables as necessary, considering the location of your router.
Pay attention to the components attached to the top door.
Carefully close the top door to ensure you are not pinching any cables.
Hardware installation is completed.
