Introduction

This article will give you reference on installation of Valina card reader on existing BATMThree. You will need to use your own tools and equipment, please be sure to read carefully and take everything on site, although many steps can be covered with included tool set.

Overview

Upgrade consist of small box with cover on the back. Whole closed box is then bolted onto right side of BATMThree from inside, protecting from unauthorized mechanical access.

Installation steps

Put the box face down, and remove 6 screws on the backside.

Backside cover will now be free to slide to the right, remove it.

Place Valina card reader into box, be aware of which side is top.

Attach Valina with 4 provided M4 washers and nyloc nuts.

Connect all cables into the Valina. Be sure you have everything correctly wired, as these connectors won´t be accessible later.

Close the box and screw in the 6 bolts holding the lid in the box.

You are now ready for integration with BATM. Take the drilling template and place it onto the BATMThree, such as lock will fit into cutout in the template.

Mark the holes with centerpunch.

Drill holes into marked positions. This step is crucial, please follow these recommendations.

  • Drill small (3mm) dint (not through) and compare its location with drilling template. If you can see bare metal while looking perpendicular through drilling template, you are in correct spot.

  • Use dint from first step to guide final drill (7mm recommended).

Use vacuum cleaner and cover internal electronic devices (acceptor) against metal burr falling into them to avoid possible short circuit!

Drill hole for the cable. We recommend using step drill, minimal diameter is 14mm, ideal is at least 16mm.

Deburr holes as needed, clean the area and inside of the BATM from any metal pieces. Attach the upgrade kit while simultaneously thread the cables into the BATM. Secure the upgrade kit with provided M5 screws.

Route the cables as necessary, in dependence of location of your router. Be aware of components located on open top door. Close the top door with caution to check if you are not pinching any cable.

Hardware installation is completed and you may proceed with SW setup.
