Items shipped from outside the US (to our US office) for repair should use the HS export code 9801.00.1012 which eliminates duties for the defective item. The value of the export is $0, as the export is considered “temporary” (up to one year). Don’t confuse this with any values reported to the common carrier (or insured values), as those affect your compensation (from the carrier) in the event of loss.
We encourage you to insure all items shipped; loss is rare - but it does happen. We do not accept liability for any damages incurred by the carrier, or your failure to carefully package the item(s).
