BATMSeven Quick Start

BATMSeven Quick Start

Congratulations!

You’ve received your new BATMSeven and you’re eager to get started.

So, let’s get started!

1. Handling arrangements:

The BATMSeven weighs approximately 43kg (95 lbs) before packaging!

The BATMSeven will be shipped differently depending on your location. You may require 2 people to unload it depending upon it’s deployment environment! The BATM may be wrapped in cardboard & plastic wrap, with possibly a crate for overseas shipping.

Please plan accordingly, and recruit a few extra hands to assist in the uncrating process.

European Shipping:

The BATM will arrive standing up on a pallet, wrapped in cardboard & shrink-wrap.

Check the tilt sensors upon receipt to ensure that the machine hasn’t been tossed about.

Note any shipping damage or tilt variations on the shipping receipt.

Overseas Shipping:

The BATM will arrive in a crate.

Check the tilt sensors upon receipt to ensure that the machine hasn’t been tossed about.

Note any shipping damage or tilt variations on the shipping receipt.

Typical total weight: 100kg (220 lbs)

2. Uncrate it (overseas shipping only).

Requires: T-20 Torx screw bit (and associated ratchets, pry bars, etc).

3. Remove any remaining protective covering(s).

4. Locate the Serial Number.

5. Register with General Bytes.

Notify the Sales Department that you’ve received the BATMSeven, and advise them of any shipping damage or tiltage. If you don’t have a GB Partner account yet, you’ll need that setup. Since these things aren’t instantaneous, doing it now will expedite the final process of setting up your BATM.

Notify the Sales Department of receipt.

  1. Note any shipping damage or tiltage. Include pictures!

  2. Include your serial number.

  3. Request a GB Partner account (if you don’t already have one).

  4. Request a License Key if you have not yet installed CAS.

6. Locate the key:

The BATMSeven key is fastened by a screw + wingnut next to the external power plug.

Use the gray key located in the previous step (6).

8. Remove your box of accessories.

Inside, find these items:

  1. another gray key, and a set of yellow keys.

    1. The yellow keys open the top access panel.

  2. labels,

  3. power cord,

  4. roll of printer paper, see: Thermal Paper Specifications

  5. tools required for assembly,

  6. BATM Operating Manual (not pictured).

IMPORTANT: Keep the spare set of keys safely stored in case of loss of the working set.

  • Record the serial number engraved on the keys immediately.

    • Keys cannot be reproduced by the manufacturer without that serial number!

9. Install any desired accessories.

  1. Install the roll of paper onto the spindle.

    1. The printer paper is single-sided, and must be installed to feed counter-clockwise.

    2. Do not lose the yellow plastic spindle cap - it is required for proper printer operation!

    3. Attach the spindle cap to the end of the spindle after the paper is seated.

IF YOU BOLT THE BATMSeven TO THE FLOOR, BE CAREFUL NOT TO TIGHTEN THE BOLTS EXCESSIVELY. THE BASE PLATE CAN WARP, CAUSING THE DOOR TO JAM!

10. Plug it in, turn it on.

11. Setup your BATMSeven in CAS.

CAS must be completely setup before proceeding: https://generalbytes.atlassian.net/wiki/x/JgDysQ

The BATM should be setup & ready in CAS before you attempt to connect the BATM to the server.

STOP!

You cannot proceed to the next step (12) until you have:

  • received the factory default Admin QR Key code from the Sales department, and

  • Internet access available for the BATM.

Make sure you’ve completed the previous step (Step 11) before connecting the BATM to a network.

IMPORTANT

After successfully connecting your BATM to CAS, make sure to update your BATM firmware as soon as possible afterwards. Security updates are (usually) released monthly and the shipped version is unlikely to be current. Save yourself any frustration by updating immediately!
