Billing fix 2025

Billing fix 2025

Dear Customers,

In version 20230801, during the code cleanup process, we accidentally removed from our CAS server software the functionality that generates unique SIDs (Server IDs). The SID is automatically created when the server is first launched after installation. It is used to uniquely identify a server for billing purposes—specifically to calculate and generate invoices for licensing fees.

In cases where an operator was running multiple servers, our partner web billing system issued only one invoice for one of the servers, despite the fact that the operator had multiple servers running at the same time. This was a direct result of all servers having the same SID (an empty SID).

As a result, GB has billed a lower amount in server fees than should have been charged. Operators running only a single server were not affected and have been billed correctly.

Please note that GB will soon issue corrected invoices for servers you have been running but were not billed for up to now.

To avoid being billed twice for the same server, please apply one of the available server patch releases before October 2025.

List of the available patch releases that contain the billing fix:

  • 20250101.23+

  • 20250301.44+

  • 20250401.6+

  • 20250601.43+

Detailed description of the fix:

  1. During startup, the server generates a new SID (if it is missing).

  2. Prevents the situation where you may be double-billed (for the same server) due to SID change.

The patch release doesn’t contain any new functionality and therefore can be considered a very low operational risk.

If you have any questions or don’t see the patch release for your major release version please contact our technical support ( support@generalbytes.com ) or the Sales Department ( sales@generalbytes.com )
